The sections of today?s chemistry

April 17th, 2008 |

Chemistry is a natural science that scrutinizes matter. The alchemists are considered to be the first chemists. They attempted to find the elixir of life and tried to turn iron ore into gold. Nowadays chemistry simply scrutinizes the components of various substances, their atomic structure and the processes that happen while different matters are being combined. That is also very important to detect the laws to have the chance to generate the needed matters from other ones. Chemistry, biology and physics are the studies which have got a lot of joint purposes.

Inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry analytical chemistry, physical and biological chemistry are the parts of general term “Chemistry”.

As the chemists had the beliefs that the organic components have the connections to the life processes the organic chemistry was called this way. Nevertheless, that was a misconception. Organic components can be produced in ways which do not involve life or living organisms. Some inorganic elements as cooper or iron, for instance, play the main role in the in the reactions of living organisms.

Organic chemistry promotes the researches of substances which are made of carbon and hydrogen. Their features are studied in detail and the results of analysis are very helpful. There are lots of commonly used products that couldn't be invented without the experiments of organic chemistry.

The sphere of chemistry that studies the mixes of both organic and inorganic elements is named analytical chemistry. It studies geometric features of molecules, composition and species identity. It studies the elements given, their combination and properties. Analytical chemistry is experimental in nature and in that way it is similar to physical chemistry. The chemists that work in that sphere give much for the saving of natural resources and the defense of the environment.
